The misson was simple: Find brambles with blossoms and confirm that last week's cold snap was "Blackberry Winter,: not "Multiflora Rose Winter," is there is such a thing. The mission failed. But the trip may have been improved to scenes like this fabulous gray day one fence line roses, cattle grazing in green, yellow tinted fields. locust coming into full bloom, idyllic farm buildings in the near ground, barns and a single silo in the distance, and a road, beckoning, rising to meet you. - CM
