The Gifts Counters in pharmacies of even 40 years ago always had the major gift for Christmas morning for everyone, especially the heads of the households. Dillon Drug was one of those places. Over the years husbands and wives learned which stores had the quality level and the very highly thought of gift advisor, who was as trusted a part of the circle of support as the family's pastor, doctor or the kids' school teachers. The gift advisor - that wasn't their title, somehow they just assumed the role - could always be depended on to understand financial circumstances, know the family, and could suggest, even for Christmas Eve shoppers, exactly the right gift. "She'll (or he'll) like," they would advise, and almost always, they saved the procastinators (usually a husband, with all due respect) from scrooging on Christmas morning. - EW
