Edgar Troutman family members at Rotary breakfast 2015-12-05 - Photo by Linda Waggener. Christmas in Columbia always starts with the Rotary Club's Edgar Troutman Memorial Breakfast at the Columbia Baptist Church and it was very fitting to see family members there this morning. Seated on the far right is Edgar's daughter Patty next to Edgar's sister Ada and her husband Joe Coffey, and seated at left is Greg Troutman, son of Fred and Lucille Troutman who are standing behind him between Bobby Beard (son in law) and Edgar's daughter Wanda Beard. The name of the event reflects the many years of service by Rotary member Edgar Troutman who died in 2014 at the age of 96 as one of Columbia's longest serving, most respected civic and business leaders. He was a member of the Columbia Christian Church where he served for many years in the office of deacon and elder and Sunday School teacher. He was a past president of the Men for Christ and a long time board member of the White Mills Christian Camp. A U S Army World War II veteran, he was a charter member and life member of Columbia VFW Post 6097 where he served as Post Commander and Post Quartermaster. He was a member of the Adair County Fair Board for many years. He was a member of the Columbia City Council for several years and the Columbia Planning and Zoning Commission. Permalink | Comments?
