Downtown Days: The Rotary Booth, sofa bike, and bike raffle 2015-10-12 - Around Historic Adair Co. Courthouse, 500 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The man on the unusual sofa, or, technically a couch or davenport bike - in bikespeak it's a recumbent - yelling to his fans is Gerald Holt, President of the Columbia/Adair County Rotary Club, who teamed up with Gary Rose, co-founder with wife Diane of BicyclingAdair.org, in front of the bicycling safety booth. Holt provided two bicycles, a blue road back and a sporty cruiser. The blue bicycle, Gary Rose reports, was won by Ralph Roy Waggener, editor and publisher of the acclaimed "It's Just for a Smile News," and the cruiser was won by Joan Dulworth. The lady in the cowboy hat is Peg Schaeffer, Sugarfoot Farm Rescue. Thomas the Train is rolling under the hand of engineer Tony Streeval. Columbians are still marveling at how wonderful the celebration was this year. It's a downtown days, with a dozen more days to enjoy: The hit Squarecrow displays, now numbering approximately 50 with late entries, will be left up through "Treats on the Town," Saturday, October 31, 2015.
