Window through trees and time

2015-09-22 - Woody Avenue, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. The old house, long the home of the late Porter & Julia Conover, and their son Billy Conover still stands today. For many of its years basketball gym and grades 1-4 were right in front of it. Proximity to the gym may be what made Billy Conover an outstanding guard on Adair County High Schools' first two State Tournament Teams. The style of the house used to be quite common. The basic layout looks very much our our family's home on Jamestown Street. I'm wondering if anybody knows: It's basically a two and a half story structure. Our's was, too. The window under the gable looks like it might be for a finished room. Our house had only an attic, with electrics on the floor joists. I always wondered, growing up, what it would have been like have that attic finished. What a commanding view! Does anyone remember whether the upper room in this house was finished or faux? The Conover property is now being readied for sale by Golden Rule-Wilson Realty. - EW
