A beginning toward a more walkable Columbia

2015-09-16 - 100 Block, Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY - Photo CM cellphone photo.
Outlines of Downtown Parking Spaces were repainted Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the direction of Columbia Mayor Curtis Hardwick, along with a start on pedestrian crossings at streets and along business entrances on Jamestown Street, above. While many pedestrian crossings are needed to make Columbia safer for pedestrians, many, many more are needed at City Crossings. Mayor Hardwick said yesterday that he welcomes a list of suggestions which the city will need to do. The work is a beginning of what many hope will make Columbia a safe, pedestrian friendly Walkable City, an essential step for desirable Economic Development. - Ed Waggener
