Old Water Plant Demolition Project

2015-08-14 - Waterworks Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Columbia/Adair Utilities District, 109 Grant Lane, Columbia, KY.
Done in with on a competitive bid with two change orders in one night the demolition of the old Columbia Water Works plant is now complete. The work was done with money left over from the construction of the Adair County Water Treatment Plant. Following two change orders in one night, for asbestos abatement and the construction of a utilitiy pad, all the money was utilized locally with three cents left over. Had money gone u unspent, it would have had to be returned to the Rural Development Administration. The site is expected to be developed into a park at some future date. The chart above was presented to the CAUD board at its Thursday, August 13, 2015 meeting. Before the change order given to Stotts Construction Company was rescinded, the original cost of demolition had been $40,000. That figure rose to $55,564, when the contract was advertised for bid. Stotts Construction Company chose not to bid on that project.
