Adair County connections at C/TC Chamber meeting

2013-03-18 - Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener . An Adair County connection or two was made at last week's monthly Campbellsville-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce luncheon. The guest speaker was former Columbian Audrey Tayse Haynes, Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, and she is pictured here with former Columbian Ed Cheatham who is Major Account Manger with Windstream. Tayse also visited with her Adanta connections including Adair Countian Patty Page. Haynes, Cheatham and Page, along with Campbellsville University's John Chowning, all remembered having worked for Waggener-Walker Newspapers when they were young and getting job starts in Columbia in the 1970s. Pete Walker was remembered for having trained them, if they could keep up with him for a day, and for his unforgettable three-point capsule basic instructions for good photo taking: "get outside, up close, butt to the sun." Tayse spoke to the Chamber audience as if they were a group of close friends (many of whom are), modestly as always, about her journey to her present position and of the hard times many of Kentucky's children are having today. - Linda Waggener
