This grand example of a Tall Grass Prairie at Homeplace on Green River/Tebbs Bend Nature and Recreation Area is maintained by fire just as the Native Americans maintained Kentucky's Tall Grass Prairie prior to our forefathers arriving here. The tall tree silhouetted against the sky on the left is Black Walnut and the one on the right is Sumac. The yellow flowered plant in the lower middle of the front is Partridge Pea. The yellow just above it is Wingstem. Of course, the yellows, if you will, above and behind are our state flower, Goldenrod.
