Newell plans on attending Southeast Lineman Training Center in Trenton, Georgia, where he will be majoring in studies for an electrical lineman. He served as a reporter, vice-president, historian for the Future Farmers of America at ACHS and was an active member of the Adair County 4-H. He is a song leader and church member at the Bethany Church of Christ. The Hoots Family Scholarship recognizes students who want to pursue their education in a technical or vocational field.
