Danger lurks in the garden
2022-08-19 - Fairplay, KY - Photo by Veronica Arnold. Veronica writes, "A garden can be a dangerous place. Well, it is if you're a small insect. Here we see the fate of a bee after he met a praying mantis on a squash flower.
Personally I would rather the mantis to kill bugs other than pollinators, but the mantis doesn't take orders from the gardener."

Scenic Adair County - historic Courthouse waiting for work
2022-08-19 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. It will be an adventure when work begins to remove the wings from the historic Adair County Courthouse. Will there be room for vehicles that are almost the size of the ground floor to have enough space? How can the City and County work together to improve signage and offer alternate routes for drivers when needed?

Kentucky Color: Tiny Nest
2022-08-18 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Billy Joe Fudge. By Billy Joe Fudge
The Great Wooded South never fails to titillate the learning gene. This tiny nest is hanging about three feet above the ground a few hundred feet from Little Pitman Creek just south of Old Summersville Road.
Yes, I just like you flew right straight to the conclusion that it might be a Hummingbird nest. However, after much research I believe the builder was likely a Vireo.
With the exception of the ink pen, I can see five or six different building materials used to construct this complex structure. Do you see them?

Travel: Entrance to Moonstone Beach
2022-08-18 - San Simeon, CA - Photo By Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking. Robert writes, "This beach scene was one of the last days we spent in California visiting the coast and three of their National Parks. Since we took the trip in mid-June, before the start of Summer, we were able to see some nice waterfalls in Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks, and we were also able to visit Sequoia National Park right before the recent fires that occurred days after we left that Park."
