ARPA funds at work in the City of Columbia

Tommy Phelps’ building, home to Moore’s Pool Room, is the first to begin work with the help of the City of Columbia’s ARPA fund designation.

With the popularity of the program, there will be 20 businesses to qualify for up to $10,000 each for exterior renovation, making Columbia more inviting to visit and shop.

TJRH donates $4K to To the Brim Food Drive

As part of the 12 Months of TJ Initiative, T.J. Regional Health is sponsoring the Community Relief Fund's "To the Brim" Food Drive by donating $4,000 and purchasing an additional $1,000 in non-perishable food items from Houchen's IGA at South Gate.

Grilling in Jackson

On Saturday, August 27, 2022, Randy Young's Happy Hawg BBQ and lots of volunteers from Columbia and Russell Springs brought BBQ and fixings to the First Church of God in Jackson, where they fed close to 2,000 people. Above, Tanner Foster (left) and Simon Wilson (right) take turns manning the grill.

Group bought food and direct donations to Jackson

In addition to meals, $1,400 in donations were given to the two local churches that helped host the group and distrubute food. Randy Young (middle) presented donations to Ted Edmonds (left) and Clara Gabbard (right).

Behind the Happy Hawg BBQ grill in Jackson, bringing free meals to victims of the catastrophic flooding this summer. Randy says the trip went well, and plans are already underway for a return trip at Thanskgiving.
