Travel: Fall colors frame the Capitol Dome, 2 of 2

2022-11-11 - Washington, DC - Photo by Larry J. Smith.
A closer look at the Capitol Dome, framed by turning leaves. According to the Architect of the Capitol website, "The United States Capitol Dome may well be the most famous man-made landmark in America. It is such a fitting finale for the building it crowns, so familiar and dignified, that it seems surprising that its design and construction came late in the U.S. Capitol's architectural evolution."

Travel: Island In The Sky in Canyonlands National Park

2022-11-11 - Canyonlands National Park, Utah - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.
Robert writes, "Island In The Sky is about a 40 minute drive from Moab. It is a Mesa consisting of sheer sandstone cliffs resting 1000 feet above the surrounding terrain. This pic is of the popular Mesa Arch. A easy 1/2 mile round trip hike from the parking area. The Arch itself is on the edge of a 500 foot cliff, part of a 1,200 foot drop off into Buck Canyon. The La Sal Mountains are in the background."
