David Jones writes, "I ran across this today and it brought back some great memories. I always enjoyed buying clothes at the Men Shop. Great people and quality stuff."

Trabue House Christmas Open House is Saturday

The Trabue House is ready for Christmas! On Saturday, December 3, 2022 there will be an Open House from 11amCT to 2pmCT, with free cookies and hot chocolate (and a visit from Santa at NoonCT).

EDA focused on grant for build-ready pad

The Columbia Adair County Economic Development board discussed preparations at their November meeting for the site visit, a second step toward a grant for a build-ready pad at the Green River Commerce Park. The visit has been made and the results should be known in January if Adair is awarded the grant. Pictured are Chester Taylor, County Judge Gale Cowan, Roger Meadows, Mark Dykes, Bobby Morrison, Samantha Oakes and Doyle Lloyd. The Board meets each third Tuesday at 8amCT at 201 Burkesville Street in Columbia and meetings are open to the public. Details of the site visit and grant are in the story linked to this picture.

Travel: Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Robert writes, "This National Park derives its name partly from the Gunnison River that flows through it and the obvious...dark colored canyon walls. It is a majestic canyon with numerous views at the many stops along the rim."

Postcard sent to ladies at the boarding house

Norris Tupman was related to the Smith's, owners of a boarding house in downtown Columbia in 1912, where this piece of mail was received, kept and passed down. His son Jimmy recently shared this keepsake postcard marketing the American Lady Corset to women. It was offered at the bargain price of a dollar.
