It always includes supper. Sheila Ellis, at left, and Gayle Garrison were preparing Wednesday's menu which included taco soup, grilled cheese and Hummingbird Cake.

Bellview School in the late 40s

Bellview one room school, Metcalfe County, KY would have been heated on a January day like this by a big pot belly stove right in the middle of it. This picture would have been taken around 1948 or 1949. The teacher would have been Isabelle Sandidge, mom to two of the students, Donald and Welby who provided the names he could remember. Front row left to right: Deanie Childers, Donald Sandidge (first bicycle), Lowell Demumbrum (on bicycle), Marvin Devore (next bicycle), Frank England (next bicycle). Next two rows left to right: ? Devore, Shirley Devore; right behind those two Kitty Sue Compton, Shirley Demumbrum, right behind her Jennifer Dubree, ? Shoultz (on bicycle), Homer Spradlin ?, Wayne Dubre, Welby "Pinkey" Sandidge, not sure about the one right behind him, Gerald Spradlin, behind him is Wayne England. Bellview was located about two miles west of Edmonton surrounded by farms these families - Leftwich, Sandidge, Demumbrum, Devore, Compton and others.

Just a little bit of snow

This picture was made as the temperature was dropping Friday afternoon, January 13, 2023 and bits of snow began falling. It snowed off and on through the evening but Saturday morning there was little evidence of it.
