Youth Development Center continues in the news

The Adair Youth Development Center, since the riot of November 11, 2022 continues to be mentioned in regional and state news coverage along with other Centers in Kentucky as lawmakers debate what is going to solve the problems. Under Kentucky law, any youth between the ages of 11-18 may be ordered by a judge to be held at a state juvenile detention center.

Christy Morris, second from left, shared ideas for helping with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) at the February Adair Caregivers meeting. She announced a new grief support group will begin at Hosparus of Green River on March 7th. It will be free and will meet each first and third Tuesday at 6pmET at 462 N Bypass, Campbellsville.

Adding artist Joe Moore

The program 'Art in the Genealogy Center' presented by Phil Hanna at the February Genealogy Society meeting started conversations about more local artists to be added. Works by Joe Moore like these make him an artist to add to the collection. These two pen and ink drawings of historic Columbia buildings were spotted in the hallway at the Training and Development Center. At left is the Adair County Jail - 1802, and at right is the Adair County Clerk's Office - 1810.

Severe storms possible late tonight through Thu


2023-02-15 - Kentucky - Photo courtesy Mike Keltner, Adair Co. Emergency Management. At 3:49pmET, the National Weather Service in Louisville updated their Hazardous Weather Outlook for late tonight through Thursday, for an area that includes Adair and surrounding counties.
  • Strong to severe storms are possible late tonight through Thursday afternoon
  • All severe hazards are on the table, but the main threats are damaging winds and hail. A few tornadoes also possible
  • For Wednesday night, main severe potential will be across western KY and south-central KY
  • For Thursday, main severe potential is highlighted in orange (Level 3 of 5)
  • Gusty winds outside of showers and storms
