Sparks fly during Fiscal Court meeting

Utility workers responded to a problem transformer behind the Adair County Courthouse Annex Tuesday night which caused a quick power on/off during the Fiscal Court meeting. Those in attendance can speak for all the sparks that flew between Magistrates and Judge Executive as the agenda moved into action items.

Neighbors' first bill, HB 130, passes house vote

The Kentucky House of Representatives entertained a vote on HB 130, sponsored by Representative Amy Neighbors (above), on February 28, 2023. The bill would expand the variety of farming equipment offered through local shared-use equipment leasing programs.

LWC faculty and staff celebrate Claudia Froedge

LWC faculty and staff gather on the quad to celebrate one of their own on Tuesday afternoon. LWC Associate Registrar Claudia Froedge was named a “Remarkable Raider” by the LWC Student Government Association.

The award is given annually to a member of the college community who exemplifies the LWC mission. A longtime member of the LWC staff, Froedge has served the College in various capacities for more than three decades going above and beyond the call of duty for students.

FAKH participates in Hunger Free Kentucky Day

Jamie Sizemore, Executive Director of Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland, presented at the Rally to End Hunger at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort on Tuesday. Following the rally, anti-hunger advocates met directly with legislators and elected officials to discuss the state of hunger in Kentucky.

Epicurean Kentuckian: The Varsity

A variety of food and a fried peach pie from The Varsity on North Avenue in downtown Atlanta. The location was at one time the largest drive-in fast food restaurant in the world, and it covers 2 city blocks. According to The Atlanta History Center, the restaurant can serve over 30,000 people on days when a football game is played downtown.
