Fisher Bend TrailEX training and emergency exercise

Search and Rescue teams learning about new software at Saturday's Fisher Bend TrailEX training and emergency exercise. Mike writes, "The tracking application allows us to monitor our ground teams locations and areas covered. This works to increase safety, track the probability of detection and utilize resources as efficiently as possible. In low or no cell coverage area the app logs data until coverage is regained."

2023 Fisher Bend TrailEX training and emergency exercise

Mike writes, "The 2023 Fisher Bend TrailEX training and emergency exercise was conducted on Saturday March 25, 2023. A large number of Emergency Responders from the Columbia - Adair County Fire Department, Breeding Fire Department, Adair County Ambulance Service, and Adair County Emergency Management participated."

Software provides detailed information for search teams

Some of the information provided by the SARTopo software used as part of Saturday's training exercise for emergency responders Using the new tracking application, 9 separate strike teams marked 124 items on the over 10 miles of hiking, biking and horseback trails in the Fisher Bend area on Saturday. These items include responder hazards, natural / man made landmarks, and potential clues which may assist in a search. While out on trail most of the 9 strike teams, which were comprised of 2-4 members, covered approximately 7 miles of hiking per team.

4-H Council in community work

Mayor Hoots writes, "The Youth 4-H Council held a spaghetti luncheon last week for the local city, county, and schools. The Adair County FBLA did a mock presentation for our community. JR Thompson served as their judge. We appreciate the work of these students in our community. ACHS leaders Trent Hadley and Chad Parnell at right are pictured with students picking up for high school."

The Trabue Room

The Trabue Room in Columbia's historic Trabue Russell House saw the close of the second annual children's art show Sunday, March 26, 2023. For two weekends it has been graced by the gifts of students who shared their creativity guided into projects by their art teachers.
