Flags and blossoms are flying in the wind on this Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in the Trabue Russell House yard. Storms are on the way as this is written just before noon, we are advised to check preparedness in case of power outages and other possible damage - be safe as you go.

Researcher Darlene Campbell in Genealogy DNA workshop

Darlene Campbell began researching her family heritage at age 16 and is quick to share her experience with others as she did at the April Genealogical Society meeting Monday evening. She has signed up for and paid for several of the ancestry services and says for someone who just wants to sample one of the services as a start, she would recommend "23andme" and then run the results they give through "GEDmatch" which is used by forensic researchers. She also says that none of the services you can buy do better than in-person genealogical research locally.

According to the Wikipedia entry for Trillium erectum, "The plant takes its common name 'wake robin' by analogy with the European robin, which has a red breast heralding spring."

To the Nines

The first To the Nines of 2023 will take place from 6pmCT to 9pmCT on Friday, April 7, 2023 on the Public Square in Columbia. Downtown businesses around and within walking distance of the Public Square are working together to offer later hours one night a month to make it easy for shoppers to visit and explore what's being offered right here locally.
