Perfect day for Russell Creek gathering

2023-05-08 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Victoria Pike of Miss Vicky's Pampered Angus Ranch.
Saturday was an absolutely perfect morning to enjoy watching little yellow plastic ducks get dumped into Russell Creek so they could float down to the finish line and determine who the prize winners would be. The second annual Duck Derby for Columbia was held May 6, 2023 at McKinney Landing at the Campbellsville Street bridge. McKinney Landing beside NAPA is the Trail Town put-in for kayakers and has had updates recently to help make access easier.

Travel: Speculating about the past

2023-05-08 - Near Kanab, Utah - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking.
Robert writes, "Dinosaur tracks? Our guide mentioned these tracks were possibly made by cattle heading to the hole of water at the top of this "brain rock" (the name they go by when referring to this type of rock structure).

What's puzzling is... the gray rock is a very thin layer, as you can see to the left of the tracks, so if tracks were made over a period of time by cattle, then the bottom of the holes should reveal red rock...which they don't. Is it possible the tracks were made by something else when the brain rock was in a softened state, before hardening?"

More from Robert's trip:
