Frame around the Courthouse clock tower

There would have been empty green space between the hillside in the historic Columbia Cemetery and the Public Square around the Adair County Courthouse in the early days of Columbia. Today many buildings and lights fill it solidly.

Mike Watson at Lanterns and Tombstones

Mike Watson led his portion of the tour from the Pitman family plot, talking about brothers Asa and Williamson H. Pitman. The only other opportunity for walking through the cemetery with a guide this year will be the annual Silent City Tour in October. Then Lanterns and Tombstones will begin again next spring.
