Katie Murrell Library at LWC celebrates Constitution Week!

Gregory writes, "Allison Rea, Government Documents Library Assistant, created this Constitution Day Board to celebrate Constitution Day and week at the Katie Murrell Library at Lindsey Wilson College."

The library also has free pocket Constitutions available. Constitution Week is September 17-23, 2023.

Chestnut in the park, maybe

On the Citizens Park walking trail, this spiky green ball discovery looked to us like a chestnut. There are chestnut trees like the precious Kentucky Color: American Chestnut Dinosaur reported on last year on Columbia Magazine by Billy Joe Fudge. And then there are trees/nuts called "horse chestnuts." We didn't find an actual nut, but found some opened hulls, so something obviously ate one, whichever it was.

Congratulations to Adair Athletic Hall of Fame

Recognition of special Adair County athletes was held over the weekend when they were inducted into the inaugural Adair County Athletic Hall of Fame. One team and five individuals comprise The Adair County High School Athletic Hall of Fame class for 2023 -- the 1980 ACHS Cross Country team; Milton Bomar (1969), Basketball; Kevin Bridgewaters (2003), Basketball; Kim Goodin (1979), Golf; Maxie Hadley (1971), Cross Country; and Dr. Ronald Rogers (1965), Baseball. Six previously inducted members to another ACHS Hall of Fame were included in this recognition including John Burr, Haskin Rowe, Ralph Shearer, Terry Randall, Ralph McQueary and the 1954 Men's Basketball Team. Sgt. Evan Burton speaks to Caregivers

Adair County Caregivers group met Wednesday at the Extension Office with its goal to provide information helpful to those caring for others. Columbia Police Department Sgt. Evan Burton was the guest speaker on the subject of how to protect senior citizens from scams. Sgt. Burton is pictured beside Caregivers Director Betty Judd. For information on the meeting dates and times, contact the Extension Office at 270-384-2317.
