Travel: Crater Lake National Park
2023-10-17 - Southern Oregon - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking. Robert writes, "Planning our itinerary for this trip months in advance, only one day was allocated for visiting Crater Lake. The weather for the scenic drive at the lower elevations looked promising, but, at the top, the rim drive presented us with this thick FOG!
While the lake itself was not visible on the day of our visit, we still enjoyed the rim drive, stopping at various lookouts, attempting to see if we could spot the lake from other pull-offs (was not gonna happen). We also got in a couple hikes on the day of our visit.
You can get a glimpse of the impenetrable fog in the top of this photo. The small waterfall is just below the rim of Crater Lake."

Fountain was the only empty spot
2023-10-16 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. Inside the fountain was just about the only empty spot on the Public Square in Columbia as the Kentucky Headhunters began their Saturday evening concert at Downtown Days 2023.

Richard, Fred, Doug and Greg - the KY Headhunters
2023-10-16 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com. The Kentucky Head Hunters paused for one second as they got off the bus before heading to the big stage for their Downtown Days concert Saturday night. Band members from left are: Richard and Fred Young, Doug Phelps, and Greg Martin. My sister Jane Todd and I share a tradition of visiting the booths and searching for cotton candy at every event. This year, however, our added goal was to simply enjoy being near the Headhunters, pride and joy of Metcalfe county, where we all (except Doug) grew up. The Youngs said that our father, Earl Reid Marcum, was one of their earliest encouragers who told them to stick with it when many others were telling them to quit music and get regular work. That was like our Dad, always positive, always believing, always playing some stringed instrument whenever time allowed. - LW
