Pie, pie, me oh my!
2023-11-21 - Cumberland County, KY - Photo by Jane Todd. First out of the oven for the Thanksgiving Day menu is this traditional homemade pie with mile-high meringue by chef Will White. The only way to know what's under there - chocolate, butterscotch or coconut - is to be on hand for the slicing right after turkey dinner.

Courthouse in Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky, ca. 1900
2023-11-21 - Columbia, KY - Photo courtesy Lonnie Collins. Lonnie writes, "I've been keeping up to date on the town square/court house. I found a photo/page that was cut out of an Old Kentucky Magazine that was in my Collins's family photo album.
The earliest known Collins in Adair County was Zacharia Collins in the early 1800's and generations later lived in or around Glenville/Glens Fork/Adair County. Many are laid to rest in Grant Cemetery in Crocus, KY.
Even though my side of the family moved to Michigan in the 1940's, there was always a connection to Glens Fork. My Aunt lived in Glens Fork until her passing away 2011, my Grandfather retired and moved back to Glens Fork, lived across from what is Hard Scratch store/restaurant. Then moved to Columbia until his passing."

One person in the kitchen under great stress trying to do a job that requires two or more people. Please be kind. Please be patient!"
