2024-01-31 - Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo from CM archives by Ed Waggener. Landscape Photography: Adding the Human Element
2024-01-30 - Arches National Park, Utah - Photo by Robert Ellis, Robert Ellis Woodworking. Robert writes, "This is the famous Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, Utah. The hike itself from the parking area is 3.2 miles round trip, moderately strenuous, and all uphill. I opted to leave my camera gear back in the car, mostly due to the extra weight, but also assuming that the arch had been photographed millions of times, and unless you're there for sunrise or sunset, you can't expect to get an epic photograph. With that, coupled with large crowds of people, I was resolved to just enjoy the hike, the landscape, and getting to see this beauty in person and...to be content with just cell phone pics.
To the left and out of the frame of this photo is a line of people awaiting their turn to get a photograph under the Arch. Just to get under the Arch the walk is somewhat scary if you have a fear of heights. I had my cell phone at the ready waiting for something interesting to take place under the Arch, and sure enough, this young lady does a headstand! I guess in the end I got my one in a million shot!"
