Merry Christmas 2012: The Littlest Bell Ringer - Luke Rich

2012-12-10 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ellen Zornes. Saturday's rainy, dreary weather didn't keep Barnett's Creek Methodist Church or their youngest bell ringer, Luke Rich, son of Brian and Alma Rich, from ringing the bell for Salvation Army. You too can 'help us help others' by ringing the bell this Christmas season. Just call Ellen Zornes at 384-3400 or 250-3400 to sign up.. Also please remember to take an Angel Tree Angel to help a deserving child have a Merry Christmas this year or call Debbie Cowan at 384-9112, Paula Garrison at 384-9752 or Jaime White at 384-6050 for more information. And from all of us with the Adair County Service Unit of the Salvation Army, "We wish you a Merry Christmas!" - Ellen Zornes

Max, at first Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights

2012-12-10 - Washington, DC - Photo From Grandmother. Mary Keltner, Gradyville, KY shares this photo of her handsome grandson Max' first Hanukkah, at its beginning on Saturday, December 8, 2012. Max was fascinated with the lights of the nine branched menorah. The tall Shamash is lit for light within the home, and each night of the eight day observance, an additional light on the menorah is lit. Grandmother Mary did not say how much Hanukkah gelt Max has received. His older cousin Molly is making all the season's parties she can. The Jewish community in their neighborhood frequently has one, two or more and evening. And when the family does go out, Molly insists on calling up someone to see if they are having one so she can go. She's so used to the foil wrapped chocolates of the season that she occasionally picks up a quarter and asks an adult to "peel."
