Window on the square

2012-12-20 - 104 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener.
Morning has broken just like Cat Stephens said it would in one of my all time favorite songs. This view from the breakfast table in the newest CM food sponsor, TaP's Restaurant, is looking out over the fountain which Mother Nature is filling as we speak. The natural Cedar Christmas tree, the wreaths and twinkling lights are inviting messages to stay a while, but the clock on the Bank of Columbia says it's time to go. - LW

Techno-Neophyte: Lego iPhone as Monitor/Holder

2012-12-20 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Hadn't Googled this idea when the need first arose, but two tries with paper and Silly Putty stands failed. This one worked almost perfectly, and the rubberized holder - this is a hand-me-town girl one used in an emergency until a cash build-up which never happened would allow a macho-black one - but, these Lego's, borrowed from the Grevans grands' stash worked just fine. It has room for the charging cord without a wire breaking bend, and the rubberized case stays in place as well as it does on the dash. All it needs is a rubberized base. After reveling in the success of the 'invention,' and then Googling, it turned out that, as with all new ideas, it's already being done. Amazon has building DYI building block stands and Lego phone cases. Still it felt good not to have to call Sonny Vance to build a custom oak one, or Jerry Holt in to provide technical advice.
