Happy Horses - A picture for Me Mum
2013-01-06 - Between Eunice & Dunnville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Horses remind me of Me Mum, Geniece Marcum. These two were enjoying a sunny Saturday, January 5, 2013, on the road between Eunice in Adair County and the tri-counties center Dunnville in Casey County. We saw many beautiful black and white horses yesterday, but none with such a bright white blaze face as this one in the foreground, who was friendly enough, though he didn't rise to greet us, as I know he would have done for my mother. - LINDA WAGGENER

Lofty view of Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY
2013-01-06 - 200 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Artists staying at the Red Brick Studio will enjoy this view of the twin church spires on Burkesville Street and traffic coming over Meadow Hill on Burkesville Street. In the foreground, the steeple of Columbia United Methodist Church, in the background, the steeple of the Columbia-Union Presbyterian Church. The scene is from the second floor loft living quarters for visiting artists, a spacious area with sleeping quarters for up to eight people, a kitchen, bar, large screen Tv viewing area, and pool table. This window, in the recording star's private bedroom, is from the back of the building. In front, there's a view of the Square and a glimpse of the crown at Begley Chapel.

Where is former cheerleader Mary Smith these days?
2013-01-05 - Edmonton, Ky. - Photo from Annette Richards. Annette Waggener Richards cleaned out old newspaper files recently and shared this memory with her sister-in-law. The Glasgow Times newspaper photo is of the 1966 Metcalfe County High School Cheerleaders with their trophy for having been selected fourth region cheering champs. From left are: Mary Smith, Faye Lambirth, Linda Marcum, Paula Reece, Glenda Pierce, Camilla Jolly and Patty Sparks. Three of us, Paula, Patty and me, married and moved to Adair County with husbands Danny Propes, Dan Antle and Ed Waggener, respectively. Faye's last name is now Faye Morrison and I believe she lives in the Cincinnati area, Glenda is now Glenda Eaton and lives in Barren County and Camilla is Camilla Shive and lives in Metcalfe County. I haven't heard from Mary Smith in many years and would love to catch up with her if any reader can connect us. Thanks Annette, for sharing this fun memory of good friends. You're a great sister!! -- Linda Marcum Waggener
