Homeplace on Green River gets a funding boost

On Tuesday, July 30, 2024, executives from NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, presented a $5,000 donation to Homeplace on Green River Program Director Lyn Stanton and members of the Homeplace Board to help increase Homeplace on Green River's outreach and mission.

Storms cause brief power outage at Columbia Walmart
 2024-07-30 - New Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Columbia Walmart lights flickered a couple of times setting off alarms as storms passed through on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Lights were quickly back on strong and shoppers continued their chores, just keeping an eye on what was happening in the pouring rain, thunder and lightening. The store has generators that will kick into action if needed to keep the power on. Some signs at customer pickup parking were blown over, as well.

Travel: Big Rock Candy Mountain

It's not too far from the Butch Cassidy Homeplace. The Sevier River runs through this canyon as well. There is a resort at this place, with hiking, lodging, rafting the river...but we were just passing through."
