When A.L. Sinclair speaks, the court listens
2013-03-19 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Synchronized listening: When Adair County Solid Waste Commissioner A.L. Sinclair addressed the Monday, March 18 2013 Special Regular Meeting of the Adair Fiscal Court last night, he had the full attention of Fourth District Magistrate Perry Reeder, left, and Third District Magistrate Sammy Baker. Mr. Sinclair said that even though the Spring Roadside Clean Up is running about two weeks behind because of the weather, he's got a good crew lined up this season and hopes to make a dramatic change in the looks of Adair County roadways. After the meeting, Mr. Sinclair said that it's been hard to understand why, after years of progress, the trash buildup over the winter has been what looks like the worst ever. The goal now is to be ready for the summer tourist season.

Greater Bliss leader now more concerned about sirens
2013-03-19 - Intersection KY 61/KY 80, Greater Bliss, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. When this picture was taken on October 10, 2012, Miz Victoria, in white blouse was on standby to advise Adair County Emergency Disaster Manager Greg Thomas and West Shore Services where the rocks were which might impede the impaling of the emergency storm warning system, and bravely, perhaps prematurely, bragged on how her girls, her cows, were townified enough that they would not be alarmed by the noise. Now, as Thomas prepares to begin 1st Monday at 10amCT tests of the system, she's become slightly trepidatious, worrying again about her cows' reaction to the wailing, but happy that now all three of the manor house residents can hide under the mattress when storms blow in out of the west.

Where the Adair Adult Learning Center isn't, anymore
2013-03-19 - 403 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Johnnietta Jessie (CM file photo). The Adair County School District has completed the removal of the former Adair County Adult Training Center, which faced Greensburg Street, with a physical address at 403 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. Removal of the building eliminates insurance costs and asbestos liabilities the board might have faced. The van is parked beside the campus' main street, Indian Drive, while behind the course of Gen. John Adair Drive is outlined by, from left, the maintenance building, the bus garage, and, at right, in the bend of Gen. John Adair Drive, Adair County Middle School, the original location of Adair County High School.
