Sano Eagle, a nod toward church, perhaps for thanks

2013-04-01 - Sano Road, Adair County, KY - Photo by Katie McGaha.
The Sano Eagle
preparing to eat a freshly prepared breakfast of possum, looks toward the Bro. Mark Polston Free Union Separate Baptist Church in perhaps as much of a mealtime gesture of thanks for the bounty of KY 1729 as eagles ever render - if one must and one must get anthropomorphic. Whatever, the eagle provided almost a full day of entertainment for people of the Sano Community. The photo is by one of the 'Gaha twins, Katie McGaha, who is a freshman along with twin Kellie, at Adair County High School in Columbia.

Downtown people in Shelbyville, KY: Doggie in the window

2013-04-01 - 6th Street, Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Tom.
Lay-la, one of Downtown Shelbyville's most famous people
poses for the photographer, oblivious to the glee a little girl finds in just seeing her. Might be a cue for other downtowns wanting to attract more people - to see puppies, book store cats - or just to have people humming "How Much is That Puppy in the Window," the famous 1950's song made famous by Yvonne Marshall's little sister, Jeanette Lawhorn Montgomery. Birthday of famous Adair County Inventor is today, no fooling

2013-04-01 - 714 Russell Road, Columbia, KY - Photo ColumbiaMagazine.com files. Today might be Adair County Invention Day, for perhaps one of the most famous inventors of county history, Rollen Coomer, who invented the Plate Prop, visible in this typical breakfast he enjoyed at the pre-fire old Circle R. Rollen Coomer's birthday is today, April 1, 2013, one of many famous people - including at least one 11 year old Academic Team standout in today's Birthdays. The picture was taken many years ago, but he still looks exactly the same. The Plate Prop was created out of necessity. Among Mr. Coomer's many creative thoughts before retiring for the night is to plan his breakfast for the next morning. It is serious business. When it includes redeye gravy and country ham, as above, the plate prop aids in pooling the redeye and biscuit at the bottom of the plate. "Life's too short to spend it chasing your food," he says.
