Kevin Grider
, who lives on Grider Road, writes, "Thought the Readers of Columbia Magazine would enjoy a Rare Sight of the Birds of Kentucky. Saturday Evening (March 30, 2013) I got to enjoy the sight of this Rare Bald Eagle eating its dinner in a field near my house in the Sano area of Adair Co. Near Free Union Separate Baptist Church on Hwy 1729 . I know several people got to see the Bald Eagle as I did. Traffic from vehicles didn't seem to bother the bird as people stopped in the road to get a look. I hope everyone enjoys the Pictures."

Garter snake towers over downtown

2013-04-01 - Photo by Pen. Spring weather brings out the snake and the photographer -- with telephoto lens. Even though Garter snakes are known to be nonpoisonous they still are snakes and send natives running. This young one was about a foot and a half in length and the trick of the camera allows him to appear as if he's towering over the jungle, above in his best King Cobra emulation, which actually comes off more as an extra good imitation of Lowly Worm in the Richard Scarry books.
