Google is in big trouble over this intersection
2013-04-02 - PBR Road Xing, Adair Veterans Memorial Highway bypass, Columbia, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM. Google has neglected to correct directions on the internet which still send semi-trucks bound for Adair County High School up Pelham Branch Road left in photo and indicate a route which leaves the trucks stranded by the Page Street Water Tower, and they've now raised the ire of Columbia City Councillor Robert Flowers and the City Council, who have given up on Google's capacity to reform itself and now believe that only good street level signage will correct the situation.

Birds of Kentucky: Bluejay Attack
2013-04-02 - Shelbyville, KY - Photo by Pen. Opinions differ about a hawk's ability to mind its own business, but that is what it seemed to be doing until the bluejay convinced it--through persistant negative attention--to seek a perch in a different back yard.

Columbia City Council: Charles Grimsley speaks
2013-04-02 - City Hall, 116 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. In a time warp? Councillors Dr. Ron Rogers, left and June Parson right listen as Councillor Charles Grimsley made remarks during the April 1, 2013 City Council meeting, which began at 6pmCT, though the "official" Council Meeting Room clock stood at 5:27pmCT two minutes before the close of the meeting. It wasn't an April's Fool joke, just an oversight when the clock wasn't sprung forward with the advent of Daylight Saving time in March.

Epicurean Kentuckian: With every meal
2013-04-02 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Pen. Water, with ice, and a slice of lemon. The beverage of choice. A product of Adair County industry. "Made" on Griffin Springs Road on the Taylor County side of Coburg, KY. Now it comes from Green River. Time was, it came from Russell Creek, and former Columbia Water Superintendent James Lewis Moore, who lived, coincidentally, in the what is now Mayor Harris' residence on Lindsey Wilson Street, used to raise a glass and proclaim it the best beverage there is, "R.C." he called it, waiting for a bystander to correct him - it wasn't the popular 12 oz soda pop - then, after a pause, he'd say, "Russell Creek - the best drink there is."
