II - Unusual Formation in the Woods - Tommy Bailey

2013-04-11 - White Oak Road, Adair County, KY - Photo by Tommy Bailey.
The root system of this tree was something to see.
It could not penetrate the ground because it was growing on top of rock in a branch. High winds finally brought it crashing down. - TOMMY BAILEY. Paired Photo. See also: I - Unusual formation in the woods - Tommy Bailey

Why the mystery door was no mystery to Melissa Stone

2013-04-11 - 205 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Melissa Stone. Melissa Stone writes "How kind of you to make a donation in our honor! Thank you very much! The attached photo shows how I knew the door. During Downtown Days in 2010, it was quite a warm day and two of my favorite men, my father - Jimmy Stone, and brother - Lenny Stone were resting in one of the few shady spots around - on the porch of the house with this lovely door. I took this and several other photos around that porch, including one of the door alone and another of the beautiful stained glass window beside it. Thanks again! - Melissa Stone Thanks, Melissa Stone for participating and for helping keep Adair Countians aware of this treasured spot. The house would make a super private residence, a dinner house, a parsonage a now or future urban congregation, or as an official residence for a County Judge Executive. It's historic. Patty Nall once lived there. The late Mayor Charles Marshall thought it would have been a fine place to raise a family, run enterprises, do all the beneficial meddling one needs to do in town, or from which to conduct affairs of state as a Mayor. But I digress, thank you and Judith Phipps for helping Chromebooks for Casey . I still have to make good on a donation in her honor for knowing the mystery door location. - ED WAGGENER

The View from the Mezzanine, Adair County Primary Center

2013-04-11 - Adair County Primary Center, 158 Col. Wm Casey Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Terry Loy, Project Manager for Branscum Construction Co., Russell Springs, KY, looks out the large door opening from the Utilities Mezzanine at Adair County Primary Center. The view is of Adair County High School, across Indian Drive. The large door will allow a high lift to raise swap out units to the mezzanine, and was added after Adair County School District Maintenance Supervisor Ricky Bault encountered difficulties servicing HVAC units at Adair County Elementary School. After units are offloaded at the mezzanine, they can be easily moved to installation points on dollies. The innovation is one of many which are designed to make ACPC the most economical to operate of all the facilities on the district's campus.
