2013-04-18 - Football Complex, 623 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo CM staff photo. The Adair County School District campus continues to get large, functional numbers for buildings on the campus, with 623 going up at the Football Complex. The numbers were made by Adair County students at at the Lake Cumberland Tech Center. "Themed street level signage will go up next," Mr. Reed said, "after we meet with the 911 coordinator and make sure the signage we plan is fully functional. Then we'll work check with professional drivers. And last of all, we'll call in design and landscape experts to get the aesthetics right." Birds of Kentucky: How not to be seen - Killdeer

2013-04-18 - Adair Extension Office, 409 Fairground ST, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. A killdeer was enacting part of its antics to keep predators away from its nest at the Adair County Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, this past week. The birds have provided entertainment for visitors to the Adair County Farmers Market over the past several years. That market will be moved to larger space on the Hood House lot immediately west of the Extension Office this year. For safety reasons, cars will no longer be able to drive past stalls. But there will be much better parking. The three large shade trees located on the grassy strip the killdeer is claiming have been removed. Other announcements about the hours and season for the Farmers Market on Fairground Street should be forthcoming shortly. So far, gardeners say it looks like a great season, albeit one which is already about two weeks later than 2012. For more on Killdeer, see All About Birds - Killdeer
