2013-04-20 - 201 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener.
The Redbud at the parking lot for the Chamber Building was a step past peak, but still pretty today. This year the hues of pink and bright white are concurrent only with two colors of dogwoods.

The ACGC: With free Garlic Chives, the stall was a big hit

2013-04-20 - Adair Annex, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Linda Waggener, Columbia, KY visited the Adair County Garden Club's booth and left with some Garlic Chives plants and a head full more gardening knowledge. Lois Cunningham, is helping her with brochures and plants. That's Kathy Hunt on the left. There will be a few of the Garlic Chives at the next Farmer's Market on the Square (FM2), Barbara Armitage said. The club had a lot of them. Almost everything taken to the market sold. The crowd, over the course of about 5.5 hours, was estimated at over 500 people, which is expected to grow as more produce matures. FM2 had been scheduled for 4 hours, but Barbara Armitage said that failed to take into account the custom of Adair Countians to be "Fashionably Early." She said, "No matter what time a sale is to announced to start," she said, "There will always be eager buyers show up well ahead of time. Some were here when we began set up, at six."

Wonderful beagle mix needs a home

2013-04-20 - Columbia, KY - Photo By Cameron Caldwell.
This little guy showed up at my back door last month. He was hungry and cold so my wife and I took him in. We have taken care of him since. I have tried to find his owner, but have been unsuccessful. I have also asked family, friends, and co-workers, but no one will give him a home. He is a young, male Beagle, that has not been neutered. He is great around other people, dogs, cats, and would make any family a great pet. He is a very sweet, loving dog that needs a great permanent home. I will also provide a medium sized crate and leash. Please contact me at 859-537-7082, or by email, cmcald29@yahoo.com
