Scenic, Historic Green Co., KY: named for Gen. Nathaniel Greene

2013-05-01 - Downtown Greensburg, Kentucky - Photo by Larry Smith, The WAVE, FM 92.7 radio. This Historical Marker on the Square in Greensburg details how the county was formed, and the gives a brief biographical sketch of the man for whom it was named. At this time of the year, it's easy to think that it was for the color of the heavily forested land and the thousands of acres of green pastures - maybe that's why the "e" was dropped - and that's fitting. As a historian, I think it's good to frequently remind ourselves of the heroes, like Gen. Greene, who helped make life in towns like my hometown, Greensburg, Green County, KY, possible. The view here is looking south, down Main Street, the road leading to Columbia and Clay Ridge, via the Dakota Meyer Highway, or Edmonton and Sulphur Well, via KY 70/US 68. - Larry Smith, The WAVE, FM 92.7.

Hospital meeting - Financial team

2013-05-01 - Cafeteria, Westlake Regional Hospital, 901 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. David Hayes, Westlake CFO told the Adair County Hospital District that financial statements through January 2013 are likely in two weeks, with subsequent ones delivered on time, now that glitches in computers are being worked through. At his side was Tammy Curry, who is back after a few weeks hiatus, at work in accounting department, and, according to Hayes, a major reason why the numbers are coming together. Hayes cited numerous situations where, in the past, Westlake had either failed to bill for procedures, billings reflected inadequate charges from third party payers, and where former management teams had failed to request timely and ordinary reimbursement increases. The CFO said these and other revenue shortcomings are being addressed.

Members of the Adair County Hospital District were in an upbeat mood before last night's April 30, 2013 regular board meeting in the cafeteria began. It was a significant meeting, going beyond the marquee item, confirmation from the board's administrative overseer, Neal Gold, of the affiliation of Westlake Regional Hospital with the state's largest health provider, Norton Healthcare. From left, board secretary Richard Grant; Chair Craig Pyles, Vice Chair Neal Gold, and Member Brad Keltner. Out of frame but present, Member/treasurer Bruce White.
