Bridges of Green Co., KY: The Footbridge in time of flood

2013-05-04 - Downtown Greensburg, Kentucky - Photo by Larry Smith. The nationally famous Greensburg Foot Bridge over Goose Creek on the East Side of the Public Square, was an observation deck when this rare photo was taken. It was before Green River Dam was built in Taylor County, and Green River backed up to this level. The beautiful old white house still stands, it's owned by Wanda Long. Since the Green River Dam, Greensburg has been spared flooding of this magnitude; the river is much more predictable, much better behaved. Larry Smith. Larry Smith is Operations Manager for FM 99.9 FM, The Big Dawg, who has a vast and growing collection of historic photographs.
