Wildlife of Kentucky: Townie Deer, part of the Roseland herd 2013-05-11 - Off Hurt & Montgomery Streets, Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Three deer Part of John & Missy Arnold's Roseland Plantation herd, posed briefly for a picture Saturday evening, before bounding off over the fence in the backgound. The woods line in the top of the frame is Montgomery Avenue Hill, above Hurt Street. The deer are within about three-four city blocks of the Historic Adair County Courthouse in Downtown Columbia. Minutes later, Mema, Geniece Marcum, was startled by a deer on the stone retaining wall about 20 feet from the kitchen window. They considered each other for a short time, before the deer departed.
