Paving underway at Assisted Transportation Systems
2013-05-23 - From 238 Development Drive, Columbia, KY - Photo ATS photo. Assisted Transportation Systems continues to grow in Green River Commerce Park, with the application of a $70,000 paving project at the plant on Development Drive this week. The plant, established by local business leaders Ken & Lynda Wilkerson and their son, Robyn Wilkerson, already employs approximately 25 people and has an annual payroll of over $1,000,000. Robyn Wilkerson as that demands for the company's products from around the world make the prospect of adding another building and an additional $500,000 payroll is very likely now that the park appears to be developing along the lines originally outlined in its charter and stated in its covenants. ATS has benefited, he says, by the desire of skilled Adair County workers to come off the road, where they earned higher pay, to accept the $25 per hour jobs that skilled welders have, so they could spend more time with their families in an unspoiled community they love so much.
