2013-06-16 - Edmonton, KY - Photo by Johnnietta Jessie. Metcalfe County Fair 2013 - This ride looks fun, but I can no longer ride the rides which go in circles. My stomach just cannot handle it. I guess my age is catching up with me. Johnnietta Jessie. Seen in the ColumbiaMagazine group on Flickr.

Family fun at the 2013 Tractor Show
2013-06-16 - Green River Dam, Taylor County, KY - Photo by Larry Smith, The Big Dawg, 99.9 FM radio. "Wish I could have stopped the parade and gotten this happy group's names,", but there wasn't time," Larry Smith writes, "and they were having too much fun. The smiles symbolize what the dream of the founders of Homeplace on Green River had in mind when they created the working farm museum, Billy Joe Fudge has often told me. Whether people come and a farm and know they love it, or have no idea where food comes from - they only know it comes from a store - there are simple pleasures to be found in a rural setting as nowhere else."

Maury Lewis: A beautiful moth plays visit
2013-06-16 - Beautiful Joppa, Adair Co., KY - Photo by Maury Lewis. This beautiful moth was outside of our garage yesterday morning and was back this morning but is unable to fly due to a slightly damaged wing. Back in my day as a child people use to have butterfly and moth collections. If there is someone out there that likes to study these creatures they are welcome to this fine specimen. - Melewi PS - I took the picture 6/15/13 call 270-634-2092

Neal Sneed - better than anything in Nashville
2013-06-16 - Square, Downtown Columbia, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Local celebrity Ronald Webb has a front row, seat by the stage as Neal Sneed held the rapt attention of an appreciative audience, most of whom sat up an impromptu auditorium on the Courthouse Lawn. The event was a bring your own chair one, but now that we know where people want to sit, wouldn't it be nice if the "powers that be," whoever they be, make that delightful shady spot even more inviting, with at least a few permanent seats and benches? Would be too much of a copycat innovation, even if Jamestown and Edmonton have perfected downtown nooks and gathering places? Neal Sneed, is another Dream Depot star.

Judge Eddie: Directing traffic on Green River Dam
2013-06-16 - Green River Dam, Taylor County, KY - Photo by Larry Smith. Taylor County Judge Eddie Rogersstood on the edge of the roadway, with the familiar control tower and beautiful Green River Lake in the background and directed traffic for the tractor parade across Green River Dam on Saturday, June 15, 2013. It was a wonderful day when county lines were erased, with so many from Adair, Green and Taylor Counties joining hands to make it a day this Green County boy will never forget. The farm is in Taylor County. The show was in Taylor, but it was founded by an Adair Countians, and Adair Countians seemed to predominate the crowd. My thanks to Billy Joe Fudge, who personifies Homeplace on Green River, and Becky Nash, Adair County native and longtime Taylor County Extension Agent for Home and Consumer Economics, for giving me notes while I was there. They made me and every guest feel welcome. What a great asset! Homeplace just keeps getting better and better. - Larry Smith, Operations Manager, Shoreline Communications, parent company of The WAVE, 92.7 FM and The Big Dawg, 99.9
