Home to Green Co., KY: Ladies Chapel United Methodist

2013-07-28 - KY 88, Green Co., KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church commands a highpoint on KY 88 west of Greensbrug, KY, and is one of the most familiar marking places along the scenic highway. The congregation was organized in 1856. The new brick sanctuary was built in 1970. A significant addition this year is the Eastern Red Cedar Cross, left of the entrance, added this year. At right Winfred Bonta, in blue, long time member of the church, recalls old times at the church with Bro. Bill Davenport, who grew up with the congregation in the church not far from his boyhood home a little north, in the Glenview Community.

Epicurean Kentuckian: Brothers

2013-07-28 - Campbellsville, KY - Photo CM photo. And this is the back door: We got it on the word of a respected Columbia Minister, a media magnate, a Taylor County pastor, a banker, and a number of other leaders - including Larry Smith, whose dog encourages trips to Brothers so he can enjoy the leftovers - that the food at Brothers on Main Street is really good. It is. So's the decor, inside and out. There are sidewalk tables with a grand view of Main Street, which was gorgeous on Friday, July 26, 2013, when this photo was taken, of the back door at the cafe - that's how much attention Mayor Tony Young and downtown businesses are paying to details.

Old Coke Fountain at Manner's Restaurant in Jamestown, KY

2013-07-28 - Monument Square, Jamestown, KY - Photo by Larry Smith. This delightful restaurant on Monument Square in Jamestown, KY, is closed. But looking through the store front window I noticed the beautiful old Coca Cola soda fountain. This is a reminder of being a kid and ordering a Coke and it had a bursting taste that only the old soda fountains could produce. As a baby boomer I have a great appreciation for the past. - Larry Smith, FM 92.7 The WAVE radio
