Scenic Adair County, KY: Life on Powder Creek is laid back
2013-10-01 - Clear Springs Road, Adair County, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. It's one of the most peaceful places in Adair County at Benjy Kimbler's place beside Powder Creek in Adair County and so the laid back attitude in the sign. The house is in a stone's throw from the new Bridge being built on Clear Springs Road in Magisterial District 2 by the Adair County Road Department. In late September when the photo was taken the stream is docile, but Magistrate Daryl Flatt has photos on his iPhone which are a testament to Powder Creek's rambunctuousness when it would escape its banks and flood the bed of the old bridge.

The Epicurean Kentuckian: Big Rig Trucker has Pork Salad Annie
2013-10-01 - 154 Beale St Memphis, TN - Photo Big Al Owens. On a trip to Memphis this past weekend Big Al Owens and Suzanne dined at a Beale Street classic, Miss Polly's Soul City Cafe. The place is famous for Fried Chicken and Waffles, and also for this special dish, Pork Salad Annie - maybe a play on the "Poke Salad Annie" by Tony White and also fame enhanced by Elvis Presley. Not sure what kind of iced team Big Al is having with his healthy salad - never heard of Samuel Adams - but it looks refreshing. They don't sell it in Columbia, KY - yet. - Ed Waggener

Our friendly visitor
2013-10-01 - Fortune Street, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener. What's for supper tonight - This elegant and refined hunter shows up at our place a lot. Like all cats, it lies about whether it's had a meal lately or not. Here it looks out over a carnivore's heaven, looking for some handy prey: Robins, rabbits, raccoons, grundoons, and or an occasional chance at taking down a deer. They're all plentiful her likely unaware of the real danger of being et. -EW
