James Howard Young at his home in 1995
2013-10-06 - Wisdom, Metcalfe Co., KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. An unforgettable man, James Howard Young, celebrates his 91st birthday today, Sunday, October 6, 2013.This photo was taken in front of his landmark home in 1995, during an interview for the accompanying story run in Senior Quest Magazine issue number 3. Like fine bourbon properly aged, he was every bit the gracious host and sometimes outrageous wit we had so admired over the years. - Linda Marcum Waggener

Memories in an old black & white
2013-10-06 - Edmonton, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. Great Mema Geniece Marcum found this family photo which reminded us of a lot of happy times. The front row, includes Thomas Marcum Waggener, left and Pen Waggener, right with their first cousin, Tera Lynn Marcum, seated on their Aunt Jane's lap. It was in the late 70s/early 80s, we think, from the evidence on Pen's tee - "The World's Largest Chili Bowl - was one of many, many features of the Inauguration Celebration for Columbia Mayor Coy Downey and Judge James Brock.

A lot of here, a little of there Plants usually associated with the sub-tropics and those so familiar to Kentucky backyards enhance this scene. The lava stone cover is accented by the very traditional - and very artfully arranged - geodes.

BAVFD - Technical Rescue Team training
2013-10-06 - Adair Co., KY - Photo by Ed Waggener. BAVFD's Technical Rescue Team. Tough training exercises for the work of the Breeding's Technical Rescue prepares them for rescues in dangerous situations. In the fall, 2012, Breeding AVFD and the Campbellsville/Taylor County had a joint training exercise in Adair County. Above, they are rescuing a "victim" from drowning in a huge lake. Fundraisers such as the Chili Suppers and Fish Fries help finance the first response activities. Related: (BAVFD website: Technical Rescue) - EW. PS-Help with personnel ID would be appreciated. Lost my notes from year ago.
