Birds of Kentucky redux: Cat that meows

2014-01-25 - Columbia, KY - Photo by Pen.
Catbird This beautiful backyard bird likes dense foliage and often gets the highest perch. Its usually high vantage point is likely the reason for the term "sitting in the catbird seat," or having the seat with the best view, or "sitting pretty." Catbirds mimic other bird calls, and even tree frogs, but their mimicry is not so complex as that of a mocking bird. Besides their beauty, they are admired for their feistiness and fight.
