Holding Hailey trumps a Dixie Cafe pulled pork sandwich
2014-03-10 - 208 S Main, Corbin, KY - Photo CM staff photo. Mema, Linda Waggener got to hold Hailey, by choice, while a Dixie Cafe pulled pork sandwich and onion rings awaited her. Hailey and her parents and and the boys were in town for the Odyssey of the Mind Competition at Corbin High School. Dixie Cafe is a delightful downtown restaurant owned and operated by Ed and Carolyn Garr family. It's famous for the world famous "Chili Bun" which orginated here. Carolyn Garr, it tuns out, is a Campbellsville College (1984) graduate, who holds both a BA and and MA in music from the school - earned before it became Campbellsville University. She's now a teacher at Corbin Middle School. Not only was the food and downtown Corbin impressive, so are the schools. Didn't get into detail, but there are "94 percentile" signs at several points. We got to see the community's downtown Farmer's Market too. It's been visited by several in this area. All in all a great "laboratory town" to see much to emulate in Columbia. Paired Photo: See Also - Epicurean Kentuckian: Slaw Burger with Onion Rings, taken by Pen after only one bite. Even though cameras outnumbered people, he was the only one to have fortitude to photograph the food before it was devoured. We want to go back there someday. - ED WAGGENER

(Ad) Adorable - Max the male Manx cat free to a good home
2014-03-10 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Kathryn Miller. Adorable cat free to a good home - We have a very adorable male Manx cat that we need to find a good home for. We will be moving in the near future and are unable to bring him with us. He's very affectionate and would be good for indoors or outdoors or both. He loves people of all ages and loves attention. He is about 8 years old but is as playful as a younger cat. He is also fixed. If you are interested please e-mail me at kmiller2130@aol.com or call me at home at 270-378-4652 or text me at 270-250-2825. - Kathryn Miller
