Feeling the Spirit! Team pride shows at ACHS
2014-03-28 - ACHS, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia KY - Photo by Shamarie Claiborne, Adair Co. School District photo. Feeling the spirit! - Mr. Young, Principal of Adair County High School, allowed staff and students to show their team pride today by wearing University of Kentucky attire or University of Louisville attire. Both students and staff had a huge time and awards were given to the best dressed. We do love our basketball! Shown here are a few students and staff having a little fun discussing who the winner will be tonight. The "trash" talk wasn't too bad but it should be known Mr. Young was wearing blue . . . - Shamarie Claiborne, Media Publicity Coordinator, Adair County School District

(Ad) Election 2014: Max Wise for KY State Senator, District 16
2014-03-28 - Campbellsville, KY - Photo - Campaign photo. Max Wise - Republican Candidate for KY State Senate 16th District
A Christian, a husband, and a father of four...those three qualities define me as a person who wants to be your next State Senator for the 16th District on May 20, 2014. As a result of redistricting within the KY General Assembly, the 16th Senatorial District is now made up of the following counties: Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Russell, Taylor and Wayne.
I am not a career politician. I am not a lawyer. I consider myself a new idea and a fresh face to politics. I want to be a servant leader and represent the conservative values and principles that define the voters of the 16th District. I have never sought political office before. I have lived my life to serve others before myself, and that is a promise that I will take to Frankfort. I feel that I have a background that is unique to politics unlike many other cookie-cutter politicians that are sent to Frankfort who tend to make a career out of their service.
My top three priorities if I am blessed to represent you in Frankfort are:
- To stop the Obama agenda from coming into our livelihood as Kentucky residents.
- Job creation - to help bring new jobs to the 16th District while strengthening and expanding those existing jobs that we have.
- Education - to make sure that we have the resources and tools for our school districts to be competitive, to provide a quality educational environment for our state that makes our children want to stay in Kentucky and to make sure that agricultural education remains a priority for our students.
FAMILY COMMITMENT -- I am married to Dr. Heather Wise, owner of Wise Dentistry for Kids in Campbellsville. We have four children (Grayson age 10, Jackson age 9, Carter age 7 & McLean age 3). I am 100% pro-life and believe in the value of traditional marriage, that being marriage between one man & one woman. My parents are George & Donna Wise. George is the former Human Resource Manager for Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville who currently works at Campbellsville Apparel Company. Donna is the former 32-year Campbellsville University & NAIA Hall of Fame women's basketball coaching veteran who now teaches at CU. My parents instilled in me the qualities that have I taken with me on the campaign trail . . . hard work, integrity and moral values.
EDUCATOR -- I am the lead professor for the Campbellsville University Political Science program. I recently completed 10 years of service of teaching Christian higher education. In addition to teaching at CU, I also teach at the Patterson School of Diplomacy at the University of Kentucky wherein I teach graduate courses in "Intelligence and National Security". With all of the constant revisions and changes that we seem to make with our state's education curriculum, isn't it time we send an educator to Frankfort who is able to see the strengths and weaknesses of our educational system?
INTEGRITY & EXPERIENCE - In the wake of the attacks on 9/11, I joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). During this time, I served my country working in the areas of Intelligence and Counterterrorism in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. I worked at FBI Headquarters, FBI Lexington (KY) Joint Terrorism Task Force, FBI Louisville Field Intelligence Group, and was the FBI's liaison representative at the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security's Intelligence Fusion Center in Frankfort. I strongly value the 2nd Amendment of the US Constitution and will work diligently to preserve our rights as American citizens when it comes to gun control.
COMMUNITY SERVICE - I have served as Chairman of the Taylor County Tourist Commission, served 6 years as a past board member with four of those years being Chairman at the Kentucky Christian Academy in Campbellsville. I also serve as Co-Director of Campbellsville's St. Baldrick's "Conquer Children's Cancer" head-shaving campaign, and have been a head coach in both the Upward Basketball League and Campbellsville Youth Tee-Ball Baseball.
Since filing for public office, I have enjoyed getting to know the citizens of the 16th District better. It has been a humbling experience to stand on many of your front door steps, walk into your offices of businesses or drink a cup of coffee at your country store and to introduce myself to you and hear your concerns. If elected on May 20th, I will work extremely hard with State Rep Bam Carney to be accessible to your local needs. Thank you.
