The guide on Weasel Branch Road
2014-04-13 - Weasel Branch Road over Pettys Fork Creek - Photo CM Staff photo. Howard Loy was mowing the right of way on Weasel Branch Road and paused long enough to explain that we weren't really lost, that the new bridge is, in fact, on Frank Dohoney Road, and that the Frank Dohoney Road, almost disappears without notice when one reaches Weasel Branch. He said the creek below the cliff is Petty's Fork. He didn't know, he said, how Weasel Branch came to come by that name. "There aren't any weasels in Kentucky," he said, "and none around here." He was happy with the new bridge, and remembered an incident not too many weeks ago when the Adair County EMS was able to reach his father on Weasel Branch on the day it was needed for an emergency run to Westlake Regional Hospital. But the following day, after a downpour, the old dry bridge was impassable. "It was just good timing that prevented a tragedy," he said. "There's no way out but this (Frank Dohoney) road." Loy is a printer for Hi-Temp Graphics, the large business card company which ships printing nationwide and employs some 30 mostly high skilled workers.

A bit of confusion on Frank Dohoney Road
2014-04-13 - Frank Dohoney RD, District 4, Adair Co., KY - Photo CM Staff Photo. There's a puzzle traveling Frank Dohoney Road, when suddenly, the path of the main road carries a new name, Weasel Branch Road, making a new to the area visitor wonder if he or she has missed a turn. The tiny lane at the left of the "Y" above, is, though unmarked, the continuation of the Frank Dohoney Road. It's not the only place in Kentucky Road Marking this happens. It does, however make one wonder.
