Scenic Casey Co., KY: View from Thomastown Cemetery
2014-12-13 - Thomastown Cemetery, Casey County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, CM. We wondered what views there might be from the Thomastown Cemetery at the top of the hill off US 127 south of Dunnville, KY. It's a grand view my mom Geniece Marcum and I agreed today. This photo from the hilltop cemetery looks back down the hill where the cemetery lane T's with US Highway 127, the ribbon o gray crossing the photo from left, from Russell Springs, to right, heading north into Dunnville). At the foot of the hill on the left, is the expanding Neat Truck Service. Across 127 is Tarter Tubing, with that giant, marking place American flag out front. Just north of this scene is one of America's most dynamic economic stories, where home grown companies, chiefly those of the Tarter family, have created so many high paying jobs. Dunville is less than 20 miles from Columbia over the backroads through Pellyton.

Christmas Lights, 2014: Snowflake over the Adair Courthouse clock
2014-12-13 - 100 Block, Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY - Photo (c) ColumbiaMagazine.com. Christmas snowflake decorations light up Greensburg Street in Columbia. This one gives a special frame for the Historic Adair County Courthouse clock. While waiting for the parade to come down Jamestown Street to the square last week, WHVE radio's Tammy Sexton and I decided to call on all our brothers and sisters in media to work together and alert listeners and readers to a needed fundraing to pay for getting the clock working again. The Adair Heritage Association has gotten prices so now it's just a matter of everyone sending a little money. As readers prepare to make end of year donations to worthy causes this one is at the top for everyone who passes through Columbia and needs to be on time. A lifetime membership in the Adair Heritage Association is only $250 per household. -- Linda Waggener
