Versailles resident Steve Reynolds fishes around a courtesy dock rendered inaccessible from high water at the Alfrey Ramp boat ramp on Cave Run Lake last week. Reservoirs like Cave Run Lake will release a lot of water from their dams due to the recent torrential rains. Anglers must adjust their tactics for success as lake levels quickly fall.

Bids opened for new Adair County, KY bus garage

Bids were opened at 2pmCT, Tuesday, July 28, 2015, in the board room of the Adair County School District. Two bids were submitted, with Branscum Construction Co., Russell Springs, KY, the low bidder. Awarding of the bids is on the agenda for the board's Special Regular Meeting, this evening at 6pmCT, Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the Adair County Board Conference Room, 1204 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. The original estimate for the three bay garage was $1.3 million. Board member Mike Harris said that he thinks the board will have the bonding capability and enough from its general fund to go ahead with the building, if the board agrees tonight. - EW

Godfrey Jackson, gets ACHS lighting project underway

He's the Taylor County RECC Staking Engineer for the boulevard lighting project which will soon illuminate Indian Drive from Greensburg Street to Indian Stadium. With him, above, are Adair County Maintenance Director David Jones, left, and Superintendent Alan W. Reed. The lighting project is one of several now in progress on the campus. Supt. Reed said that plans are to have five of the Indian Drive lights installed and operational by opening day of school, Thursday, August 6, 2015. - EW
